Surveying uses
The S5 is built on proven Trimble technologies that ensure a high level of accuracy on-site and in the office. Its ability to integrate into workflows using Trimble GNSS receivers further increases the flexibility of this total station.
Consistent operation in adverse conditions
The S5 automatically corrects for unwanted movements, such as those due to wind or mishandling, along with close tracking for prisms in challenging environments. Trimble MagDrive technology increases scanning rotation and reduces wear over time, leading to reduced wear and maintenance concerns. When paired with a TSC5 or similar, the S5 is suitable for:
- Topographic surveys.
- Construction site layout.
- Infrastructure and civil engineering.
- Monitoring.
Cost-effectiveness
While you will be missing out on 3D scanning and the latest VISION technology when compared to the S7, the S5 is a consistent tool for most surveying applications. Additional technologies can help it adapt to specific tasks and industry use cases. Why Choose the Trimble S5?
Our cheapest current option in the Trimble S series, the S5 is available in 1, 2, 3, or 5-second configurations. Cheap doesn’t mean unreliable, though; the S5 contains much of the same technology which the more modern S7 total station and S9 total station are built on. This includes Autolock, MagDrive, and SurePoint, but crucially lacks Active Tracking and FineLock for prisms.
It’s no surprise that the S5 is still considered a ‘workhorse’ total station all these years after its introduction in 2015. This can be a great budget option for surveyors. DRPlus, robotic and Autolock versions are available if you want to expand the S5’s capabilities to meet your needs.
