With 1408 channels, you’ll struggle to find better-connected GNSS than the i73. This means you’ll almost always be able to secure a strong connection for reliable measurements even in challenging areas. The i73 is also quick to set up in these environments, with the IMU initialising in just 3 seconds for 3cm accuracy up to a 30° pole tilt.
The i73 is also a great option for a budget GNSS receiver, as its price sits below that of the Spectra SP100 and Trimble R580. The lack of tilt compensation in the R580 will typically put it out of the running, unless you’re prepared to perform manual corrections. A closer comparison is the SP100, which might be a better option depending on what sort of software you’re used to working with. If you choose the i73+ model, you also get a UHF, which allows it to be used as a base station or rover.
The CHC-i73 is an extremely lightweight GNSS that’s effective on a wide range of projects. This adaptability is partly due to the various configurations available to the i73, as well as efficient position tracking in a variety of settings.
Surveying uses
The i73 is a highly versatile CHCNAV GPS solution, able to operate as both a base and a rover. When connected to a GNSS RTK network via CHCNAV LandStar, it excels as a highly efficient NTRIP rover.
Agricultural Field Mapping
GNSS technology can be used for various Agricultural applications, many of which start with a detailed field map. This can then be used to visualise irrigation requirements, soil composition, and overall crop performance. The i73 has the performance and protections to support surveying in this industry. The i73 can also map large areas with ease thanks to its lightweight design and compact size.
Pipeline Surveying
The i73 GNSS provides accurate positioning data for staking out drilling sites and tunnel entrances. At the same time, the instrument is protected from any adverse environmental conditions which might arise during the course of preliminary, routing, staking, or as-built surveys. Of course, it can also handle general topographic surveys as well, so you have a complete solution for the duration of your project.
