Why Choose the i76?
The i76 leverages modern positioning technology to achieve a 96% fixed RTK rate even in challenging environments. This is made possible by the combination of a 5th-generation IMU that delivers accuracy at 60° tilt, along with iStar 2.0 technology. Set up speed is only increased by the compact and lightweight nature of the i76, which makes it very easy to use over long periods on site.
These automations work to improve accuracy and streamline surveyor workflows. For instance, the i76 continuously completes smart cloud-based OTA updates, so you’re always working with the most effective version of the GNSS. Other smart features include the AR overlay, which is especially useful for route mapping, and smart assistance, which can greatly improve efficiency when predicting pipeline direction.
The CHC i76 is a palm-sized GNSS that combines Real Time Kinematic (RTK) and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) technology with dual cameras. It’s lightweight, easy to use, and durable in even the most challenging conditions.
Surveying uses
The i76 is a highly connected CHCNAV GNSS Receiver, with a 410-470 MHz modem for both receiving and transmitting. Connectivity can be established using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or near field communication (NFC), so the i76 can perform reliably in various site conditions.
Construction site layout
When compared to traditional surveying methods, it’s estimated that the i76 can boost stakeout efficiency by up to 40% in construction projects. The integration of AR visualisation with CAD base maps offers a detailed view of construction sites. When coupled with GNSS and IMU technology, this simplifies many of the common construction surveying tasks, such as recording site layouts, foundation building, and path planning. Simple ‘poke and measure’ functionality replaces the need for bubble centering or manual IMU initialisation.
The i76 also has the necessary protections against dust ingress and shocks to minimise risk on construction sites.
Stockpile volume measurement
Another aspect of construction or building work where the i76 can be used is in stockpile measurement, as it can record size, shape, and volume. Here, accurate data is essential for project management and resource allocation, thereby helping to minimise waste from site activities.
